A Simple Check That Keeps You Compliant
As the administrator of the portable long service leave scheme in Victoria, LeavePlus works with businesses across the construction industry to help them stay on track with their obligations.
The electrical sector is performing well, with most employers meeting their requirements. At the same time, the industry is diversifying, particularly in areas like telecommunications, solar and newer types of electrical work, where business models and workforce setups are still evolving. As things change, compliance gaps can appear without businesses knowing.
The role of LeavePlus is to help you stay on top of your obligations and keep things fair across the industry, with clear, practical guidance and support when you need it.
That’s why we’ve partnered with NECA Victoria to bring together regulatory insight and industry experience to better support employers, especially in fast-growing parts of the industry in which staying across obligations day-to-day can be more challenging.
Where things can slip

- Reporting not keeping up with changes in the business
- These gaps are easy to miss, especially in fast-moving, project-based environments, but they’re also easy to fix when picked up early.
A quick check now saves time later
With the new financial year underway, now is a good time to:
So, when you have a spare 10 minutes this month, check if you’re registered or need to register with LeavePlus. It’s a simple step that can save you time and hassle down the track.
About LeavePlus
What is LeavePlus?
LeavePlus administrates the portable long service leave scheme for the Victorian construction industry, so workers can build up leave even as they move between employers.
Does the scheme apply to my business?
The scheme covers a wide range of trades, locations and project types. Check if your business or workers are included on the LeavePlus scheme coverage page.
What do I need to do after I’ve registered?
After registering, you need to report worker service each quarter and keep your records accurate and up to date.
I mostly use subcontractors. Does the scheme still apply?
Yes. If you're a principal contractor and engage subcontractors or other employers to carry out construction work, you'll still need to register with LeavePlus, even if you don't directly employ workers yourself.
