Free mentoring for Solar and Battery Installers, and Licensed Electrical Inspectors (LEI)

Following the success of the Solar Victoria mentoring program in 2023. Solar Victoria have extended the program to end of May 2024. NECA Victoria are proud to announce further sessions available to LEI’s and installers across regional and metropolitan Victoria, for FREE.

This initiative will provide better technical knowledge and support for Solar and Battery Installers, and Licensed Electrical Inspectors (LEI’s) wanting more education in developing skills for the new RE license. Spots are limited.

This is funded by Solar Victoria as part of the Victorian Government’s $11 million Training and Workforce Development program, that includes specifically crafted training resources to develop, upskill and support the renewable industry.

This initiative started in February and runs through to May (or until the spots are exhausted) and will be delivered onsite in both individual and group settings allowing LEIs and installers to access the most up-to-date information and the ability to stay on top of their game.

How is the program delivered? 

Mentoring sessions are delivered across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Each session involves a minimum of one 2-hour session per person, delivered face-to-face and onsite.  

Small group bookings can also be arranged for a maximum of four people. This involves a minimum of one 2-hour session per group. 

What support do I receive post the mentoring session?

Following the mentoring sessions, participants will also have access to 30 days of technical mentoring support by email or phone. 

When is the program delivered?

Technical mentoring and support is available from now until mid-December 2023. 

Who can apply?

Applications for technical mentoring and support are open to electricians who install solar PV and battery systems delivered under the Solar Homes and Solar for Business programs, and Licensed Electrical Inspectors. 

Priorities given to: 

• Electricians completing Solar Victoria Licensed electrical inspector training (Skills set 1) 
• Current LEIs who have completed Solar Victoria funded LEI training (Skill set 2 – Inspect and test electricity generation systems). 
• LEIs who have inspected a system installed under Solar Victoria’s Solar Homes Program. 
• Existing LEIs, where Solar Victoria provides approval prior to accessing funded mentoring support. 

I participated in the pilot program, can I get more training?

We encourage all suitable tradespeople to register for the program, including those that took part in the pilot program as all applications will be assessed individually.  

I would like to put my entire workforce through training, is this possible?

The program has limited places each month as part of this free initiative. Fill the expression of interest form with as much as information as possible as all applications will be assessed individually. How much does it cost?

This program is fully funded by Solar Victoria and provided to the industry by NECA Victoria free of charge. However, cancellation and reschedule fees may apply.
